We meet our Tour Director this morning and drive north to the university town of Cambridge. Then on to historic York, where we walk through narrow cobbled streets to the Tudor 'Shambles' and we see York Minster, England's largest medieval cathedral. Overnight at Hotel 53, York.

Monday, Day 4

Edinburgh

Tour Day

It's away to Scotland today, across the wild Northumberland Moors and past the romantic ruins of Jedburgh Abbey to Scotland's elegant capital of Edinburgh. We enjoy a city tour and visit to Edinburgh Castle before checking in to the Hilton Grosvenor for the night. Dinner on your own but with a voucher for a choice of 2 restaurants.

Tuesday, Day 5

Liverpool

Tour Day

Drive through the Southern Uplands to Gretna Green, where many an eloping English couple have been married, the back across the border into England. Enjoy a drive through Lake District, a region so beautiful it inspired a host of English poets. Wander in Wordsworth's footsteps by the lake before continuing to the Atlantic Tower hotel on Liverpool's famous waterfront.

Wednesday, Day 6

Tour Day

First stop today is at the former Roman fortress town of Chester. Walk along part of the well-preserved walls. See the Cathedral, the unique black and white 'Rows' (shopping arcades) and the remains of the Roman Ampitheatre. Now to the market town of Stratford-upon-Avon, where we visit Shakespeare's birthplace, returning to London through the flower-trimmed villages of the Cotswolds, one of the most beautiful parts of England. Check into London hotel for the next 3 nights. A dinner voucher is included which you can use anytime over the next 3 nights.

Thursday, Day 7

Free day to enjoy the museums, galleries, the history or the shops(!) of this wondrous city. You have a Travel card to get around, a ride on the London Eye and a voucher for a 3 course dinner at a choice of 20+ restaurants.
