Your tour commences in Lille or London, where you meet your specialist Battlefield guide at the tour departure point. We then tour the Somme battlefield covering major sites from the calamitous first day through the whole five months of the battle. You see Delville Wood, the Welsh memorial at Mametz Wood, the huge Lochnagar mine crater, the sunken road where the Lancashire Fusiliers suffered terribly, the Pozieres battlefield and Windmill Hill (both important site for Australians), Courcelette, site of the first major use of tanks supporting Canadian troops, and the nearby the tank memorial. We include the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing and the Ulster Tower. An undoubted highlight, however, will be the incredibly preserved Beaumont Hamel battlefield site. For those who are continuing to Ypres the next day, it is possible to attend the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres this evening. Those who are departing the tour today will return to Lille before the Last Post ceremony.

Why it was built is a mystery, it has been a pagan place of worship, an astronomical clock and a Bronze age burial ground. Its origins date back almost 5,000 years. Morning Section
This tour covers Rock landmarks in bohemian Soho and the north London neighbourhoods of Camden Town, Hampstead Village and Heath, Highgate, Muswell Hill, Archway and Islington. You'll see Macca's Golden Disc covered office and the flat where he wrote 'Yesterday', Ringo's Hampstead house, and the only flat shared by all Fab Four.

Then, there's Madness' Camden Town and Chalk Farm, the famed 'Tin Pan Alley', the Kinks' Muswell Hill 'shrine', and Rod Stewart's family home and school. See where the Floyd's cut 'The Wall'. We'll pass Boy George, George Michael and Sting's homes. See where Jimmy Page cut his first disc, where Joe Meek killed his landlady and where The Clash cut 'London Calling'. Gig sites and clubs include the legendary UFO, Klooks Kleek, the Rainbow, Marquee, 100 Club, Roxy, Ronnie Scotts, Roundhouse and Hope and Anchor.

Other sites covered on this fantabulous tour relate to the Police, Rod Stewart, Bonzo Dog Doh Dah Band, Graham Bond, Elton John, The Clash, Alexis Corner, Ginger Baker, Fairport Convention, Bob Dylan, Eurythmics, and more modern icons such as Amy Winehouse and Coldplay. And, YES, you do get to walk across that famed ABBEY ROAD crossing!

The tour also covers where Geldof conceived Band Aid and Live Aid, where and how the Sex Pistols was formed, the Clash's neighbourhood, also home to Bob Marley. There are heaps of sites to please Pink Floyd fans. We pass the homes of Freddie Mercury, Bowie, Bolan, Jimmy Page, Macca, Clapton, Van Morrison, to name a few and see where Jimi Hendix died. Medieval Warwick Castle
We take you back through Warwick Castle's 1,000 year history to a time of bloody battles, extravagant banquets and royal ceremony. Visit the Madame Tussaud's waxworks display where you can hear the Earl of Warwick as he prepares for battle. See the gruesome dungeons where prisoners were tortured. Alternatively, you might like to stroll through the Castle's lovingly tended gardens.

Stratford upon Avon
Birthplace of William Shakespeare: if you have ever used the expression: 'Too much of a good thing', 'Come what may' or 'Laughing stock,' you are quoting the great playwright. We will visit his Birthplace, and will gain a fascinating insight into his life.

Oxford
The colleges in Oxford date back to the 13th century and among its famous students were Bill Clinton, C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkein and Lewis Carroll. We take you on a fascinating walking tour through the cobbled streets of Oxford to see the Bodleian Library and the picture-perfect college courtyards, for which Oxford is justifiably famous.

Meet the Evan Evans representative at Euston Station to collect your tickets and itinerary for the day, then enjoy a relaxing train journey to Oxenholme in the spectacular Lake District National Park.

On arrival at Oxenholme you will be met by a local guide, who will take you on a tour of the Lake District. Enjoy a spectacular cruise on Lake Coniston and visit the medieval village of Hawkshead, an enchanting combination of whitewashed houses and cobbled streets. We make our way to Hill Top Farm, home of Beatrix Potter and the inspiration for so many of her characters. Then to Wray Castle, built in 1840 in the Gothic Revival style and where Beatrix Potter enjoyed several holidays as a child. The grounds of the castle offer splendid views over Lake Windermere.

A highlight of the visit to the Lake District is afternoon tea at the Lindeth Howe Country Hotel, once home to Beatrix Potter.

You will be taken back to Oxenholme Station for the train back to London.

Your tour commences in Lille or London. On our day touring the Salient we see, in the company of a first class guide, some of the most important sites that remain: the area of the first gas attack, John McRae's Essex Farm, the Messines Ridge, Hooge crater where the flame thrower was introduced into modern warfare, and the sites that played a pivotal role in the Battle of Passchendaele; Polygon Wood and Tyne Cot. Walk the moonscape of the Hill 60 battlefield and see literally dozens of memorials to British, Australian and Canadian regiments and units. The tour returns to Lille, or for those remaining, we spend an evening in our regional accommodation.

The Cotswolds

Stratford upon Avon
We then travel through the rolling Warwickshire hills to Stratford upon Avon, a market town at the edge of the Forest of Arden made famous for being the birthplace of the world-famous playwright William Shakespeare.

Ghosts of London
This evening we will show you the sinister and ghostly side of London. The house in Berkeley Square, where happenings took place, so terrifying that for most of the 19th century it was known as 'the most hountúed house in London'. Hear about the Theatre Royal Drury Lane where a distressed man in 18th century attire is regularly seen striding backstage. Shudder at the tale of the demon barber of Fleet Street, Sweeney Todd, and has accomplice Mrs Lovatt who was said to have baked pies from the flesh of his victims, selling them to unsuspecting customers.

Jack the Ripper
Into the notorious East End of London, where we tread in the footsteps of the infamous Jack The Ripper. We'll visit the sites where, in 1888, he hunted and gruesomely murdered five London prostitutes. We visit four of the murder sites and our Ripperologist will run through the list of suspects, a true Victorian whodunit.

This is a combination coach/walking tour and will finish at a traditional pub near Trafalgar Square.
