Swansea is an appealing blend of traditional and modern, known as the city by the sea. The old dock has been transformed into a marina, surrounded by stylish waterfront buildings, and the former warehouse converted into the Maritime and Industrial Museum, tracing the development of Swansea as a port. Nearby is Dylan Thomas Centre, a permanent exhibition on the Swansea born poet and playwright, Dylan Thomas and his life. After Shakespeare, Dylan Thomas is the most quoted writer in the English language, find out more about why the man and his work hold such global appeal.

Our journey enjoys views of Swansea Bay, Oystermouth and Mumbles' Bracelet Bay before we enter the Gower Peninsula, Britain's first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The 19-mile peninsula has a unique combination of natural beauty and history, demonstrated in its rugged limestone cliffs, sandy coves, and spectacular coastal views. Exploring the south side of Gower first, we offer an optional low level escorted coastal walk from Langland to Caswell Bay. Lunch stop is at Rhossili, a delightful village with ample free time to stroll along the coastal path which overlooks Rhossili Beach and Worms Head, an island connected to the mainland by a low tide causeway, located at the western most tip of the Gower Peninsula.

In the afternoon we explore north Gower, one of Wales's most atmospheric alluring landscapes. Maen Ceti, better known as Arthur's Stone, is spectacularly sited on a false crest on Cefn Bryn, a tomb dating back to approximately 2500B.C, with superb panoramic views of north and south Gower. Nearby Welsh ponies, sheep and cows graze on the grassy common.

Your tour commences in Lille, where you meet your specialist Battlefield guide at the tour departure point. We then tour the Somme battlefield covering major sites from the calamitous first day through the whole five months of the battle. You see Delville Wood, the Welsh memorial at Mametz Wood, the huge Lochnagar mine crater, the sunken road where the Lancashire Fusiliers suffered terribly, the Pozieres battlefield and Windmill Hill (both important site for Australians), Courcelette, site of the first major use of tanks supporting Canadian troops, and the nearby the tank memorial. We include the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing and the Ulster Tower. An undoubted highlight, however, will be the incredibly preserved Beaumont Hamel battlefield site. For those who are continuing to Ypres the next day, it is possible to attend the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres this evening. Those who are departing the tour today will return to Lille before the Last Post ceremony.

We will depart Rome by deluxe motorcoach along the Autostrada del Sole. After passing the Castelli Romani- the wine-producing hill towns to the southeast of Rome- and see hillsides completely covered by vineyards, we will cross the region of Ciociaria. We’ll have a view (from the coach) of the Abbey of Montecassino, which was completely rebuilt after World War II.
Upon arrival in Naples we will enjoy a view of the city.

Next we will continue on to Pompeii, where after lunch in a local restaurant, we will visit the excavations of this famous Roman city that was completely destroyed by the volcanic eruption of Mt. Vesuvus in 79 A.D.

We will depart for Rome at approximately 5:30pm.

Return arrival in Rome is scheduled for 9:30pm - traffic permitting. Travelers will be returned to their hotels or immediate vicinity.

The first stop is at Aalsmeer´s world famous flower auction (closed on Saturdays in which case we will visit a traditional wooden shoe-maker instead). Then, before the city tour of Rotterdam, we will have a photo stop at the renowned Hotel New York.
At Delft you will visit to the official Royal Delft Blue Pottery factory with time for lunch at the historical centre (lunch not included in tour price).

Finally see the highlights of The Hague including the House of Parliament (where you can enjoy a short walk) and Peace Palace. Here in Holland´s governmental city you can visit Madurodam, the minature down of Madurodam where all of the Neatherlands is put together on a sacle of 1.25, or enjoy some free time at the famous North Sea beach resort of Scheveningen.

Edinburgh
The train from London's King Cross Station arrives at the Royal City of Edinburgh at around 11.30. Right by the station you board the open-top sightseeing bus where you'll get a bird's-eye view of this majestic city! The hop-on hop-off ticket allows you the freedom to leave and re-join the bus as often as you like.

You will see the Old Town quarter, the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre, the gloriously intricate Scott Monument, the Palace of Holyrood House and the brand new Scottish Parliament building. You might want to wander through the cobbled city centre streets or stroll along Princes Street checking out the tartan, whisky and shortbreads that have made Scotland famous! Your tour includes tickets to Edinburgh Castle.

The train back to London leaves Edinburgh in the late afternoon returning to London's King's Cross at around 10.20pm.

Our professional cabbie will come and collect you from your hotel and then take you on a magical journey through London, passing Gringott's bank, Leadenhall market and the river Thames that Harry flew along on his broomstick, in the Order of the Phoenix . First stop is Blaenavon, a town which played a vital part in the Industrial Revolution which transformed the landscape, culture and society of Wales. Situated at the head of the Afon Valley on the slopes of the Coity and Blorenge mountains is Big Pit, (Pwll Mawr) the National Mining Museum of Wales. A real colliery where for over 200 years was once the workplace for hundreds of men, women and children. Discover what life was like on an underground guided tour led by real miners.

We cross the River Usk by an ancient and narrow arched bridge to Crickhowell, a picturesque market town, built on the edge of a hill looking towards the Sugar Loaf Mountain and Table Mountain. Above the town on the hillside is Crug Hwyel, where the first settlement was made over 2000 years ago, and where the name Crickhowell comes from. The town has small independent shops, bustling atmosphere, one of the richest areas in Wales for 17th-century architecture and used as a film set for historical dramas. Lunch stop in Crickhowell.

After lunch we travel further north to a location which offers two medieval buildings: the ruins of the four-storey 12th Tretower Castle and the 14th Tretower Court, a manor house with recreated medieval gardens and orchard. Cadw, the Welsh Governments heritage authority, has recently undertaken major restoration of the opulent interiors of the 15th and 17th century. (Tretower will close week days from November until end of March. During this closure we extend our tour in the Brecon Beacons National Park.)

Brecon Beacons National Park over 519-square miles of stunning countryside. Our tour visits the far eastern side of the park to enjoy views of the Black Mountains, quaint villages with stone cottages, Llangorse Lake, once considered to have magical powers, and the 18th century Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, considered by many to be Britain's most picturesque canal. Crossing the canal we follow the scenic road to Talybont-on-Usk and reservoir, set in a charming wooded valley surrounded by splendid hills.

St Paul's Cathedral
A guided tour of Sir Christopher Wren's masterpiece – St Paul's Cathedral - crowned by the magnificent dome that is so much a part of the London skyline. The Cathedral was rebuilt after the Great Fire of London in 1666. In recent years it has seen the wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales, to Lady Diana Spencer and, most recently, the thanksgiving services for both the Golden Jubilee and 80th Birthday of Her Majesty the Queen.

The Tower of London and Crown Jewels
Founded by William the Conqueror in 1066-7 and enlarged by successive sovereigns, the Tower of London is one of the is one of the world's most famous and spectacular fortresses. Over the past 1000 years it has been a Royal Palace, an armoury and a place of imprisonment and execution. The Beefeaters who guard the Tower will regale you with stories of its past. We will visit the Crown Jewels, including the magnificent solid-gold crown used at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, the enormous Cullinan diamonds and the extraordinary Koh-i-Noor.

Finally, enjoy a River Thames cruise from the Tower of London.

Salisbury Cathedral
